Morning has Broken – Marina's song
On Nov. 26, 2008 Janaia Hutzal’s entire life tragically changed; when morning broke her daughter, Marina Jane McQuaig, only eight years old, did not survive the night. Janaia believes her daughter's brain damage and epilepsy was initiated and exasperated by non-informed medical consent. Informed medical consent became her cause and although it was a lonely path for many years, she is now grateful to no longer be alone.
At the time, Janaia was going through a divorce, she had not worked outside the home in almost a decade, the stock market was crashing and she had two other children to raise and care for in a city she had yet to call home.
All of this left her asking, “Who am I and how am I going to survive?”
Knowing and honouring one’s true essence is the first step to finding the answer to “who." Along her journey, she also rediscovered the beauty and honour of being alive, which is the “how."
After over 20 years of seeking, writing and practicing holistic well-being Janaia has witnessed time and time again the positive effects of maintaining an overall healthy ecosystem, so that when one area of life crumbles, the others are strong enough to keep you standing. This ecosystem involves all seven aspects of wellness: spiritual, emotional, environmental, occupational, intellectual, social and physical.
"There is no title for a mother who suffers the loss of a child, yet so many mothers have. The trauma that she will forever endure affects every part of her life and her family as a whole."
Because of this, Janaia's goal in all that she does is to help others live pain-free in body, mind and soul.
